RHEA CO. OFFICERS INVESTIGATING AFTER VIDEO SHOWS UPS DRIVER RUNNING OVER DOG
The Rhea County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a possible animal cruelty incident after a UPS driver ran over a family’s dog in Dayton. The incident was captured on surveillance video installed at the home. The footage shows the UPS driver arriving a first time then leaves. The second time the driver backed up the driveway at a fast pace and runs over the dog named Jazzy. The UPS driver parks the truck for about 30 seconds and then leaves the scene without delivering a package. Another dog started barking when Jazzy was hit and the barking alerted the homeowners. UPS later confirmed the family did not have a package for delivery. The family spoke with UPS and a road supervisor called it an accident, but changed his tune when he was told by the homeowner the incident was on camera. UPS says they will investigate the situation and take the appropriate actions. The Rhea County Sheriff’s Office is looking into it as well and any evidence will be taken to the District Attorney’s office.
