Funeral Services for Rev. Richard England, age 87, of Clarkrange, Tennessee, will be conducted on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. Eugene McCowan and Rev. Stanley Anderson will officiate with Full Military Honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard. Rev. England was born on Monday, August 1, 1938, in Monterey, Tennessee. He was the 10th child of 11 born to the late William Sullivan and Ova Phillips England. Growing up in Muddy Pond, Richard learned hard work with no excuses, farming, and horse training that he carried into his adult life. He attended the local school in Muddy Pond and Clarkrange High School where he graduated. His personality developed at an early age earning him to be voted among the superlatives in his graduating class. After meeting the love of his life, Eleanor Johnson, he enlisted in the United States Army serving and protecting his beloved country. He was a foreman with Avery Dennison until his retirement. At an early age, he answered the call to serve in ministry and was ordained as a Freewill Baptist Minister. This course in his life lead him to pastor several churches including Harris Chapel, Jonesville, Woody, Midway, and Martha Washington. He served in ministering to those who fell ill, needed encouragement, or were lost and helped to lead them to their Savior Jesus Christ. Richard invested in the ministry to the youth and went on many missionary trips with them. His time in ministry also brought him the joy of joining people in matrimony as well as the grief associated with performing funerals for friends and other families. He was a member of the Shriners and Masons for many years. Richard could fix anything! He spent many hours working on something and most often sending his family to pick up parts for him. Discovering Amazon and YouTube brought more excitement and determination to him. Rev. England passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eleanor Johnson England; children, Regina Stephens, Rita (Nelson) Morales, Ricky (Tamara) England; grandchildren, Krissie (Josh), Vanessa, Randi (Michael), Ashli (Howard), Jana (Michael) Kelli, Kortni (David), and Robbie; a host of great grandchildren; sister, Jeanette (Amos) Phillips; brothers, James England and William Sullivan England Jr.; and best friend, Franklin (Carolyn) Phillips. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Randy England; brothers and sisters, Odis (Ida) England, Ruthie (Buddy) Lack, Ruby (Granville) Bowman, Talmadge (Naomi) England, Earl (Charlene) England, Evelyn (Carlon) Phillips; and infant brother, Artie England.
