Richard “Mike” Rideout, 80
Richard “Mike” Rideout
August 22, 1945 – May 24, 2026
Richard “Mike” Rideout, age 80, of Crossville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 24, 2026. Born in Henderson, Kentucky on August 22, 1945, Mike was the son of Coleman J. Rideout and Floretta Rideout. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his sister, Barbara Martin.
Mike was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Janice “Jan” Harrison Rideout, and a proud father to his two sons, Christopher “Neal” Rideout and Joshua Michael Rideout. He was a cherished grandfather to Ava, Lyle, Cole, Carla, and Waylon, who brought him immense joy.
Mike built a successful career and retired as Executive Vice President of Gallagher Bassett Services, Inc. He was respected for his leadership, integrity, and strong work ethic.
A man of deep faith, Mike accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a teenager. His faith continued to grow throughout his life as he faithfully served in his churches in the Chicago area and later at Central Baptist Church in Crossville, Tennessee.
Mike will be remembered as a kind and gentle man, a good listener, and someone who genuinely cared about others. He had a lifelong love of golf. While he enjoyed the game throughout his working years, it was in retirement that Mike truly had the time to embrace it more fully. He treasured the hours spent on the course—not only for the game itself, but for the camaraderie, friendships, and fellowship he shared with his fellow golfers. Those rounds became some of his most meaning and rewarding times.
One of Mike’s greatest joys was time with his family, especially the special tradition of “Camp Tennessee,” where he and Jan hosted their grandchildren for a week each year filled with swimming, boating, horseback riding, crafts, movies, and laughter. These memories will be treasured by all who experienced them.
Mike’s life was marked by love—for his family, his friends, and his Savior. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and quiet strength that will continue to live on in all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on June 13 at 11 AM at Central Baptist Church, 1346 S. Main St., Crossville, Tennessee 38555. The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM just prior to the service. A lunch for the family and out-of-town guests will be offered immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Cumberland County or Central Baptist Church. Please note the name “Mike Rideout” on your donation.
