On Saturday last week, Crossville Police units responded to the area of the intersection of Sparta Highway and Northside Drive for a rifle found on the side of the road.

Upon arriving, patrol Officer Jacob Zimmerman contacted the caller, who informed him that he found a Mossberg Patriot 30-06 lying on the side of the road. Officer Zimmerman ran the serial number through dispatch, and it came back as not stolen.

Officers Zimmerman then issued the caller a property receipt for the firearm and took possession of it. The rifle was taken to the Crossville Police Department and placed into a temporary blue locker.
