ROADWAY ACTIVITY REPORT FOR LOWER EAST AND UPPER CUMBERLAND (DEC. 4 – 10)

BRADLEY COUNTY I-75 [15.35-19.309] from MM 31 to MM 35 (McMinn County Line) resurfacing: The contractor will continue paving operations. This work will require temporary lane closures in both directions, which will occur Sunday nights through Friday nights 8 PM to 6 AM. Motorists should exercise caution and pay attention to construction signage. The speed limit will be reduced during paving operations. BRADLEY COUNTY SR-40 [5.1-9.7] from Lyles Rd. to Bradley-Polk County Line resurfacing: During this reporting period, the contractor will continue final pavement marking work on SR-40. BRADLEY COUNTY SR-74 [11.445-11.83] from Whaley Road to SR-60 APD-40 drainage improvements: During this reporting period, the contractor will continue storm drain installation and grading work on SR-74. Beginning 12/1/25 through 12/5/25, traffic on SR-74 will be reduced to one lane with flaggers from 8 AM to 5 PM. Additional intermittent flagging operations and shoulder closures will be necessary periodically. Motorists should use caution and reduce speed when traveling through the work zone. COFFEE COUNTY I-24 (MM 117) construction of an overpass carrying Wattendorf Memorial Highway/AEDC Road, including grading, drainage, retaining walls, and paving: Drivers can expect short-term flagging operations for trucks entering and exiting the work zone on Wattendorf Highway. COFFEE COUNTY SR-55 construction from First Avenue (LM 2.0) to SR-16 (US-41A, N. Jackson St, LM 2.6) in Tullahoma: Phase 1 of roadway widening and bridge replacement on SR-55 (Wilson Ave.) will continue this week. The contractor may use temporary lane shifts to complete storm structure installations. Phase 1 traffic shift has reduced lanes from 3 to 2 from Cedar Lane to near Grau Lane in order to continue bridge replacement and storm drainage work.

COFFEE COUNTY I-24 beam repair at Exit 105 (LM105 to LM 113.75 East)

Rolling roadblocks will start on 12/9 from 8 PM to 2 AM local time on I-24 at Exit 105 (LM 105) Eastbound at the on-ramp and shut down Lane 2 around the Exit 114 (LM 113.75) overpass. This work is to re-repair the beam over the lane 2 travel path. This will involve closing eastbound on-ramps 110 and 111 East for a short duration so traffic control can be established. Motorists should reduce speed and use caution in the area.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY SR-24 [15.056-15.56] from Crossville city limits to Seventh-Day Adventist Church and School bridge replacement: The Contractor has closed SR-24 at LM 15.06 to LM 15.6. This closure will remain in place for the duration of the project. The posted detour is along SR-462 and SR-1. The contractor will be working on general clearing activities and utility work initially. Once initial work is completed, the Contractor will proceed with the replacement of the bridge over the Obed River. Motorists should use caution and utilize the posted detour. RESTRICTIONS: Both lanes of SR-24 are closed at LM 15.06 to LM 15.6.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY SR-28 (US-127) bridge construction and paving from north of I-40 (LM 17.8) to near Potato Farm Road (LM 22.7): The contractor continues grading activities throughout the project limits. Temporary lane closures and/or periodic traffic stoppages will be necessary for construction activities. The contractor has scheduled paving operations beginning on the north end of the project on the proposed alignment. The contractor has closed North Grace Hill Drive at the existing intersection of SR-28 (US-127) for construction activities. Motorists should utilize South Grace Hill Drive as the detour with appropriate signs. Traffic has been moved to temporary alignment on Plateau Road and permanent alignment on Potato Farm Road. CUMBERLAND COUNTY SR-298 [8.35-9.02] from north of Catoosa Canyon Dr to south of Obed Pines Rd construction of a small drainage structure: The contractor continues construction activities on Genesis Road (SR-298). Both lanes of Genesis Road (SR-298) at LM 8.35 to LM 9.02 have been closed and will be closed for the duration of the project with a posted detour route along SR-28 (US-127) and SR-62. The contractor will be working to replace a culvert underneath Genesis Road and installing retaining walls. RESTRICTIONS: Both lanes of Genesis Road (SR-298) are closed from LM 8.35 to LM 9.02. [J. CUMBERLAND AND FENTRESS COUNTY SR-28 (US-127) widening from near N. Lowe Rd (LM 29.2) to north of SR-62 (LM 1.9): The contractor has shifted traffic to phase 2 on the newly constructed portions of SR-28 LM 0.90 to 1.98 in Fentress County. Work will proceed on the existing alignment of SR-28. Flaggers are being used intermittently as needed to control traffic through the work zone. Motorists are encouraged to use caution, be aware of new traffic signs and pavement markings, and watch for construction equipment and personnel throughout the project.

DEKALB COUNTY SR-26 (US-70) grading, drainage, and construction of retaining walls and paving from near SR-53 (LM 2) to near SR-96 (LM 6.1): The contractor continues grading and construction activities throughout the project. Temporary lane closures and periodic traffic stoppages will be necessary for construction activities and motorists should be prepared to stop while traveling through the work zone. Motorists are encouraged to obey posted speed limit and to watch for construction equipment and personnel adjacent to the roadway. The West end of Old Liberty Road will be closed to through traffic due to construction activities. Motorists and EMS will need to use the East entrance of Old Liberty Road to gain access and follow detour signs.

HAMILTON COUNTY I-124 (US-27) from I-24 Interchange to South of the Tennessee River Bridge: Daily lane closures are possible between 9 AM and 3:30 PM as the contractor work along the ramps and 4th Street. HAMILTON COUNTY I-75 at I-24 Interchange Reconstruction Phase 2: Nightly Lane closures will regularly occur on this project, 9 PM to 6 AM, on I-75 North and South between Exit 1 (East Ridge) and Exit 3A (East Brainerd Road/ SR-320) and on I-24 East and West from Germantown Road to Spring Creek Road, MM182 to MM185, for various construction activities. These closures may temporarily reduce traffic to a single lane. Uniformed police officers will be present in these work zones to assist with traffic management and to enforce traffic laws. (Note: A daytime closure (9 AM to 3 PM) of the entrance ramp between South Moore Road and Belvoir Avenue from North Terrace to I-24 West is scheduled for Monday (12/8) and Tuesday (12/9) to paint and texture coat the retaining and noise walls along the ramp. The contractor will use message boards and post detours to guide traffic to the next available entrance ramp during these closures. Nighttime lane closures from 8 PM to 6 AM are scheduled on I-24 East and West between Germantown Road and the I-75 interchange for placement of asphalt paving on Thursday (12/4) through the next two (2) weekends until Thursday (12/18). At times, traffic may be temporarily reduced to a single lane while this work is taking place. As crews pave traffic lanes, it will be necessary to temporarily close entrance and exit ramps along I 24 for crews to safely perform their work. Message boards and detours will be posted to guide traffic to the next available ramp. As soon as fresh paving has cured sufficiently to support traffic, these ramps will be reopened. Once the paving on I-24 is complete, the contractor plans to move to begin paving North and South Terrace. It is anticipated that this work could begin on Sunday (12/14). As part of this paving effort, the exit ramp from I-24 West to North Terrace/South Moore Road would be temporarily closed from 9 PM to 6 AM on Sunday (12/14) night for milling and paving. Message boards and detours would be posted to guide traffic to the next exit. Further information on this work will be provided once the final start date is determined. Most of the remaining work items on this project are temperature and weather sensitive. If any of them are canceled due to inclement conditions, they will be rescheduled to take place on the next available day when adequate conditions exist. On Thursday, December 11th the contractor will have nighttime (9 PM to 6 AM) lane closures on I-75 North and South near the East Brainerd Road Interchange (Exit 3) for installation of overhead structures and signs. Traffic may be reduced to a single lane or completely stopped for a short duration (15 to 30 minutes) while crews lift and install structures and signs overhead.) It may also be necessary to do short duration (15 to 30 minutes) rolling roadblocks during the day or night for patching potholes, clearing debris or repairing guardrail, attenuators, etc. Portions of the left lane on North and South Terrace between Germantown Road and Spring Creek Road will remain closed for the installation of drainage structures, sanitary sewers, retaining and noise wall construction.

HAMILTON COUNTY I-75 at the Hamilton Place Mall interchange: The SR-153 southbound ramp to I-75 northbound has been reduced to one lane. Traffic shifts have been implemented on I-75 northbound, Shallowford Road entrance ramps, and Shallowford Road exit ramps and Hamilton Place Mall exit ramp. Hamilton Loop Road is closed for retaining wall construction and storm drainage installation between the intersections near Markman’s Jewelers and Texas Roadhouse. HAMILTON COUNTY SR-8 (MARKET ST.) TDOT Bridge Inspection both directions at LM 9.68: The Chief John Ross Bridge, also known as the Market Street Bridge, will be closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic from 8 AM until as late as 3 PM on Sunday, December 7, 2025. During this time, TDOT Consultants will perform the regular quarterly inspection, along with testing and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems associated with lifting the bascule span. The bridge will be reopened as soon as possible after all required testing and maintenance has been performed, but the public is advised to plan on using Olgiati Bridge or Veterans Bridge as alternate routes before 3 PM.

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-8 [11.67-11.75] from Stringers Ridge Tunnel to Stringers Ridge Tunnel Cleaning: The Stringers Ridge Tunnel will be closed 12/10/2025 from 8 PM to 6 AM for cleaning. MARION COUNTY SR-108 [2.8-3.24] slide mitigation: The contractor will be performing slide mitigation operations, including grading, drainage and paving on SR-108 in Marion County at LM 2.8. The roadway will be reduced to one lane controlled by temporary traffic signals. The project completion date is 08/31/2027. Please use caution when driving through the work zone.

POLK COUNTY SR-68 over SR-40 the construction of bridges: During this reporting period the contractor will continue construction on the SR-68 North bridge. All SR-68 traffic is using the existing SR-68 South bridge while construction occurs on the new SR-68 North bridge. All SR-40/SR-68 interchange traffic will utilize the SR-68 South interchange ramps. A temporary 3-way stop has been implemented at the intersection of the SR-40 interchange ramp and SR-68.
