Retired Rockwood Firefighter Randy Kirby was involved in a crash on his motorcycle on Thursday afternoon just after 3:00 p.m. on Tarwater Street in Rockwood.

No other vehicles were involved according to sources. Kirby hit a gravel section in the road that was allegedly being repaired from a water line cut. After hitting the unpaved portion, he lost control of his motorcycle, turning it over in the roadway.

Kirby was transported to the local hospital and then to UT Medical Center in Knoxville where he is listed in stable condition with several broken ribs and shoulder injuries but he is expected to make a full recovery.
