ROANE COUNTY-  Christopher Lee Kennedy, age 50, and Evelyn Denise Kennedy, age 50, were prosecuted for the 2019 neglect death of Evelyn Kennedy’s 72-year-old aunt, Betty Crews.
Betty Crews lived off and on with the Kennedys over thirty years. Evelyn Kennedy’s Daughter, Jessica Harris, called 911 on April 5th, 2019 when she noticed her mother’s bad health and Crews was admitted to Roane Medical Center in Harriman where she remained until she died on June 7, 2019.

The autopsy determined that her death was the result of complications from starvation and dehydration over a long period, that Crews was unable to overcome the damage even while under the care of RMC for two months.
The Kennedy’s received Crews’ social security disability checks during the entire time they had her in their home.
Evelyn Kennedy was sentenced life in prison and will not be eligible for parole for at least 51 years. Evelyn Kennedy will also be sentenced on the second charge of aggravated neglect of an elderly adult on November 18th.
Christopher Kennedy did not show up on the last day of the trail. Detectives are actively looking to arrest Kennedy. If you know of his whereabouts, please contact Roane County 911.
