ROANE COUNTY DEPUTIES STOP ERRATIC DRIVER WITH CHILD IN VEHICLE
Late Saturday afternoon, a Roane County deputy noticed a vehicle on Harriman Highway cross the fog line multiple times.
When he initiated a traffic stop on Roane Street in Harriman, the deputy found 62-year-old Carolyn Faye Young to be moving erratically, mumbling and speaking unnaturally fast.
The woman, who had her juvenile granddaughter in the vehicle, performed poorly on field-sobriety and Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) tests.
Requesting a blood test, Young gave permission for a blood draw, which was performed at Roane County Medical Center; afterward, Young was arrested for DUI and taken to jail.
The child was picked up at the scene by her aunt.
