ROANE COUNTY ROAD WORK ALERT: MULTIPLE LANE CLOSURES AND DELAYS EXPECTED THIS WEEK

In Roane County, several road work projects are creating potential hazards and delays for motorists in mid-March 2026.
On I-40 East between mile markers 340 and 341, nightly temporary lane closures are expected from March 16 through March 19 between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. as crews install portable barriers to close the shoulder, with workers present, possible slow or stopped traffic, and closed shoulders requiring extra caution.
Near mile marker 360 on I-40 East and West, brief rolling roadblocks are scheduled for Sunday, March 15, from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m., during overhead utility line work, which may cause delays along with workers on site.
At the intersection of US 27 and SR 61, drivers should watch for new traffic patterns and intermittent lane closures throughout the project, along with changing conditions and workers present.
On SR 61 between Noe Lane and Blair Road, possible lane closures may occur daytime between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. due to turn lane construction, with potential delays expected.
Finally, the SR 95 Bridge over the Clinch River (spanning Roane and Loudon counties) remains reduced to one lane with temporary traffic signals for bridge repairs, creating around-the-clock delays and new patterns; a wide-load detour is in effect, and drivers are advised to use alternate routes when possible to avoid congestion.
In all these areas, motorists should remain vigilant for workers, slow or stopped traffic, and exercise extreme caution.
