From the Roane County Sheriff’s Office’s official Facebook page:

“Aging affects everyone differently. When it comes to driving, it is important to understand the impact age-related changes may have on one’s safe driving ability. December 2 – 6 is Older Driver Safety Awareness Week. Join the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in encouraging older adults, family members, and caregivers to be proactive about discussing safe mobility and building a transportation plan. Fatal traffic crashes involving older drivers 65+ years old increased by 4.7 percent from 7,515 in 2021 to 7,870 in 2022. In 2022 the number of fatalities in traffic crashes involving older drivers was the highest since NHTSA began tracking in 1975.”
