ROBERTS ARRESTED AFTER SHOOTING AT PUTNAM COUNTY DEPUTIES DURING WELFARE CHECK

A man in Putnam County who allegedly fired shots at deputies is charged with attempted murder.
Deputies responded to a home on Highway 56 Saturday afternoon to conduct a welfare check. They were greeted with gunshots from out the front window, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
In response, the sheriff’s office established a perimeter and shut down the roadway at Nashville Hwy. More deputies also arrived to the scene, as did the sheriff.
Sheriff Eddie Farris negotiated a surrender of the subject, according to the PCSO. The individual taken into custody is identified as Danny K. Roberts.
Roberts is charged with two counts of attempted 1st degree murder. Bond has been denied.
