ROCKWOOD CITY COUNCIL MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

Rockwood City Council members met Monday evening February 24th at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall. Under old business on the agenda was the second and final reading on an ordinance establishing a vacant structure registry which would require property owners to register their properties, and then have an allotted time to do repairs or seal the property before fines would be imposed.
Also approved on the second reading was an ordinance amending the zoning map to resolve property on South Kingston Avenue from r1 to r2 zoning. This will permit the new owners of the former Paradise Baptist Church to renovate the building for the use of apartments for Roane State Students who need a place to stay temporarily.
Under new business approved by Rockwood Council was an ordinance on first reading concerning terms of library board members; a resolution reappointing Tom Bowman to the Rockwood housing authority board; a resolution approving soliciting professional services to perform a hotel study; and finally a resolution under new business authorizing the sale of now city-owned property at 118 North Chamberlain avenue to a business known as Cutmans Construction LLC.
Finally, the council approved a grant application to connect a walking track between Tom Fuller Park and the new RV Park on Pumphouse Road.
