ROCKWOOD HIGH-SPEED CHASE ENDS IN SPRING CITY

A Rockwood police officer was on patrol Tuesday night when he witnessed a green Ford F-150 traveling south on Gateway where the driver was exceeding the posted speed limit. According to the police report, the officer’s radar showed the vehicle traveling 74mph in a posted 40mph.

After the driver refused to stop, the officer begin to pursue him while reaching speeds of 90 mph and entered Rhea County. The driver finally surrendered after traveling down a one-way street and then reaching a dead-end road.

According to the report 38-year-old Philip Matthew Pack from Knoxville stuck his hands out the window and was quoted telling officers, “Wasn’t that fun?”

Mr. Pack was taken into custody and charged with three counts of Reckless Endangerment, four counts of Reckless Driving, and Speeding. The Rockwood officers were assisted by the Rhea County Sheriff’s Department and Spring City Police.
