ROUGHLY 600 EMPLOYEES LEAVE T.V.A. AFTER BUYOUT PROGRAM

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has implemented a voluntary buyout program that has led to approximately 600 employees choosing to retire or resign as part of a strategic effort to cut nearly $1 billion in planned spending by 2026. The buyouts, which offer five days’ pay for every year of service up to a maximum of 150 days, are designed to enhance operational efficiency while maintaining workforce stability.
Employee departures began in May and are expected to continue through September, according to a TVA spokesperson. This cost-cutting initiative reflects TVA’s broader goal of streamlining operations while continuing to serve its mission as a federal utility.
