Roy Winton South, born on February 28,1945 in Wilder, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 26, 2025. He was 80 years old. Family meant the world to Roy. He loved traveling with his late wife Stella, her mother Velma, and family friends. Roy was a sports fan and a nature enthusiast. He loved bird hunting, fishing, and shooting sporting clays. He was a founding member of Simple Life Church of the Cumberlands. During his career, Roy was an owner and manager of the Heritage Inn motel until he retired. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Carlos South, his wife, Stella, and siblings June Beatty, Sue Eldridge, and Frances Allen. Survivors include son Chris and his wife Michele; grandchildren: Jared and Alyshia South, Patrick South and Shae Frady, Kristen and Nathan Garvin; great grandchildren – Jackson Garvin, Hayden and Hunter Smith; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Cumberland County Hospice or Simple Life Church of the Cumberlands. A Memorial service will be held at Simple Life Church of the Cumberlands on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. Visitation will begin at 4:00pm, with the service to follow at 6:30pm, Pastor Hank Jones officiating.
