SANDY WALDO STRADER, AGE 72

Sandy Waldo Strader, age 72, of Rockwood, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023, at her home. She was born on August 17, 1951, in Rockwood. She was of the Christian faith and attended the Family Church Believers in Jesus Christ the Messiah Church. Sandy was a well-known artist and crafter and had a passion for folk art, primitives, and antiques. She was always fun to be around and was always up for a trip. Sandy practiced her faith and was the epitome of a Christian, possessing a servant’s heart. Sandy dearly loved her husband and her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Milford & Hattie Waldo; brother: David Waldo; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Charlie & Grace Strader; brothers-in-law: Doug Strader, and Curtis Priest; nephews: Pat Waldo and Eric Strader; and aunt and uncle: Ruth & Dock Waldo.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years (who married each other on a dare): Bud Strader of Rockwood; children: Wesley (Stephanie) Strader of Spring City, Shawn (Dena) Strader of Rockwood, Destiny Strader of Whitwell, and Kayla Strader of Rockwood; grandchildren: Sawyer Strader, Madison Strader, Brantley Hope, Paisley Hope, Hattie Strader, and Adalynn Angel; great-grandchildren: Emma Stage, Piper Cates, Ryan Runyon, and Sadie Stage; brother: Stanley (Paula) Waldo of Spring City; sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Priest of Hixon, Pamela Howard (Rob) of Spring City, and Cindy Strader of Spring City; and several special nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 26, 2023, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Evans Mortuary in Rockwood. A Celebration of Life service will follow on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 7 p.m. at Evans Mortuary with Pastor Roger Britton, Preacher Vance Winsted, and Bro. Tim Wagner officiating. A private family interment will be held in the Glen Alice Cemetery in Rockwood at a later date. Honorary Pallbearers will be C.J. Smith, Casey Strader, Angel Smith, Troy Waldo, Brent Nelson, and Jacob Strader. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital or to Alzheimer’s Tennessee.
