The Scott County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy involved in a vehicle accident has been released from U.T. Medical Center.

Deputy Michael Hanson was on duty when the crash occurred Monday.

Hanson was traveling south on Highway 27 near Wolf Creek Road while a fire truck was traveling north. Troopers say Hanson left the southbound lane and hit the fire truck head-on.

The driver of the fire truck was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
