SEAMLESS SUMMER OPTION MEAL PROGRAM COMES TO A CLOSE FOR 2024
The Seamless Summer Option meal program came to a close yesterday. School Nutrition District Supervisor Kathy Hamby, program overseer said well over 200,000 meals had been given through the summer, worth a little over a half million dollars spent at the halfway point on June 30th.
Sponsored by USDA, the program covered 63 distribution sites, including 10 schools, except Martin and South due to renovations at the kitchens of those schools.
Originally started in 2005 the program was much smaller with only roughly 1,000 meals given out. The program eventually got much longer and expanded to cover the whole summer.
