SEARCH FOR MISSING OAK RIDGE BOATER CONTINUES

The search for a missing boater in Melton Hill Lake, near the Edgemoor Road boat ramp in Oak Ridge continues following a disappearance reported by WBIR on August 21, 2025. The Oak Ridge Police Department, along with multiple agencies including the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA), Oak Ridge Fire Department, and Anderson County Rescue Squad, are actively involved in the search.
The boater, a 47-year-old man, was last seen after his boat experienced mechanical issues, and he attempted to swim to shore but did not resurface. Witnesses reported the incident occurred around 1 p.m. in an area where the lake is approximately 80 feet deep.
Search efforts include the use of boats, sonar, and divers, with a focus on a large search area near the boat ramp. The TWRA has urged the public to avoid the area to facilitate the ongoing operation, and authorities are continuing to provide updates as more information becomes available.
