SEVERE FLOODING WEST OF NASHVILLE

Catastrophic flooding has been reported in the counties to the west and southwest of Nashville during the past 12 hours where as much as 8 to 14 inches of rain has fallen. Hardest hit areas are reported in Dickson, Humphreys and Hickman counties. There have been numerous water rescues and many roads are reported washed out and closed. Flooding will continue to be possible in those areas already affected until at least midnight. A state of emergency is in effect for Dickson, Hickman, Houston and Humphreys counties. People have been reported trapped in their homes and cars and several are missing.
