The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of East Tennessee, including Blount, Morgan, Roane, Loudon, and Anderson counties, until 12:00 AM EST on Friday, February 7, 2025.
Residents in the affected areas should be prepared for the possibility of scattered damaging winds, with gusts up to 70 mph, large hail up to ping pong ball size, and the potential for a couple of tornadoes. This system is expected to bring intense weather conditions throughout the evening and into the early morning hours.
With nearly two million people in the watch area, officials urge residents to stay weather-aware, have multiple ways to receive warnings, and be ready to take shelter if conditions worsen.
