SEX OFFENDER BREAKS INTO ELDERLY NASHVILLE WOMAN’S HOME

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A 70-year-old woman in South Nashville awoke Monday morning to a man pulling at her nightgown while he stood next to her bed, police say.
According to a recent Metropolitan Nashville Police (MNPD) press release, the woman eventually convinced the man to leave not by using force, but by using talking, persuasion, and distraction.
After reporting the crime to MNPD, the detectives of the Special Victims Division were able to identify the man as 31-year-old Jerru Wells, a registered sex offender.
“In 2015, Wells was convicted of sexual battery in Hamblen County. He registered as a sex offender in Nashville in 2018. Wells also has prior convictions for aggravated burglary and aggravated assault in Hamblen Count,” according to the MNPD press release.
Monday afternoon, Wells was taken into custody and faces attempted rape and aggravated burglary charges as well as two sex offender registry violations.
