The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office is warning local residents to stay alert following reports of a classic door-to-door paving scam in the area.

According to authorities, fraudsters are targeting homeowners by claiming they have “leftover material” from a nearby job and offering to pave driveways at a steep discount. Deputies caution that this is a high-pressure tactic designed to rush residents into making split-second, costly decisions.

Suspects were recently spotted in the Georgetown Road area near the Hamilton County line. They are reportedly operating a white pickup truck with yellow lettering that reads “Paving.”

How to Protect Yourself

Law enforcement recommends taking the following precautions against unsolicited contractors:

• Just Say No to Cold Calls: Refuse work offered by unsolicited door-to-door salesmen.

• Avoid Pressure: Never let anyone rush you into an immediate financial decision.

• Do Your Homework: Always check licensing, verify insurance, and ask for references before hiring any contractor.

• Never Pay Upfront: Hold off on any payments until legitimate work is verified and completed.
