“SHOOTING HUNGER” FUNDRAISER BENEFITS TWO LOCAL SCHOOLS

Shooting Hunger is a fundraiser event held annually with the proceeds helping to feed hungry Tennesseans through regional food banks.

Through the collaborative efforts of Tennessee Farm Bureau and Farm Credit Mid-America to find a way to feed the hungry Tennesseans, the first event, Shooting Hunger, was held in October of 2015 where the funds raised provided over 88,000 meals to hungry Tennesseans. The Tennessee Farmers’ Cooperative joined the effort in 2016 as a presenting sponsor.

There are three Shooting Hunger Sporting Clays events held annually, one in east, middle, and west Tennessee.  Donations and sponsorships, both small and large, along with shooters from not only Tennessee but from across the country, have made this event a tremendous success.

The money raised each year is divided between all the local Farm Bureau offices across Tennessee where the local Farm Bureau Board of Directors decides how to distribute the funds. This year, the local board selected the Backpack Programs at Brown and Pleasant Hill Elementary Schools as the 2023 recipients.  Each school program received $1,350.

The Cumberland County Farm Bureau is honored to be a part of this outstanding program and looks forward to working with the Tennessee Farm Bureau in 2024 to help fight hunger in Tennessee.
