The Knoxville Police Department Violent Crimes Unit is investigating a shooting that occurred overnight on Old Weisgarber Road.

At around 2 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022, KPD officers responded to the area of the 1300 block of Old Weisgarber Road, where they found a man who had been shot at least one time. The victim was transported to the UT Medical Center for serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. It was reported that the victim and a witness were riding motorized skateboards on Old Weisgarber when a car pulled up, and the occupants exited and shot the victim following a possible attempted robbery. The suspects, who have not yet been identified, then drove away from the scene.
