NASHVILLE, TN- An active shooter event has taken place at Covenant School, Covenant Presbyterian Church, at 33 Burton Hills Drive this morning. The Covenant School is a Christian elementary school serving Pre-Kindergarten through sixth grade.

Metro police said the shooting began at 10:13 AM as the shooter entered the school through a side door and made her way from the first floor to the second floor, firing multiple shots.

Police reported that officers met the female shooter on the second floor of the school and fatally shot her. The shooter has been identified as a 28-year-old Nashville woman and was reportedly armed with two assault-style rifles and one handgun.

It has been confirmed that three students were fatally wounded as well as three adults. MNPD is working to identify all six victims.

It is unclear if the shooter had a connection to the school or students.

The six victims have been identified as:

• Evelyn Dieckhaus – age 9
• Hallie Scruggs – age 9
• William Kinney – age 9
• Cynthia Peak – age 61
• Katherine Koonce – age 60
• Mike Hill – age 61
