SHOTS FIRED DURING PURSUIT ON HIGHWAY 70

Posted by the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office yesterday:
Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Deputies assisted the Knox County Sheriff’s Office with a vehicle pursuit that entered Loudon County around 2:00 AM this morning.
The suspect, driving a white Jeep and wanted on robbery charges, led officers into Loudon County on Highway 70. During the pursuit, shots were fired. Thankfully, no deputies, officers, or the suspect were injured.
The chase continued along Highway 70 and into Lenoir City, where the suspect turned onto Highway 321 and struck a Lenoir City Police Department patrol vehicle. Deputies performed a PIT maneuver and continued the pursuit until the white Jeep was boxed in a short time later. The driver was safely taken into custody.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is assisting with the crash scene and processing the wreck.
We’re grateful no one was harmed during this dangerous incident, and we commend the outstanding teamwork between our deputies, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, the Lenoir City Police Department, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol for safely bringing this situation to an end.
