Showers and storms were quite numerous across East Tennessee and the plateau today and they will be even more likely from Wednesday through Thursday night as a cold front moves across the state clashing with this hot and humid air mass. Some of the storms over the next couple of days could bring more frequent lightning and very heavy downpours and one or two could become severe with straight-line wind. Skies will begin to clear on Friday and your Independence Day weekend is looking sunny and dry with high temperatures in the upper 70s and lows in the upper 50s, rare to see a forecast like this for the 4th!
