SHOWERS END SUNDAY BEFORE SUNSHINE AND WARMER WEATHER RETURN

The weekend wraps up with more clouds and scattered showers across the Cumberland Plateau and Tennessee Valley. Rain is likely Sunday, especially during the morning and early afternoon, although rainfall amounts should be light. The Cumberland Plateau has a 70 percent chance of showers, with a cool high near 65. The Tennessee Valley has a 60 percent chance, with temperatures reaching around 70. Winds could occasionally gust to 20 miles per hour.

Rain moves out Sunday evening, and skies gradually begin clearing overnight. Lows will fall into the middle 50s on the Cumberland Plateau and upper 50s in the Tennessee Valley.

Monday brings a welcome return to sunshine and much warmer temperatures. Highs climb to around 80 on the plateau and 83 in the valley. The warming trend continues Tuesday and Wednesday, with plenty of sunshine and highs reaching the lower 80s on the Cumberland Plateau and middle 80s in the Tennessee Valley. Wednesday looks like the warmest day, with temperatures near 83 on the plateau and 86 in the valley.

Thursday stays mostly sunny and warm, with highs in the lower to middle 80s. Nights will be mostly clear, with lows generally in the upper 50s to lower 60s. After a wet weekend, the forecast calls for several days of dry weather with no additional rain expected through Thursday.
