The Tennessee Department of Health says the number of pediatric deaths from the flu has risen to six so far this season. Four of the deaths reportedly happened to children in the eastern half of the state including a 12-year-old in Blount County. Two of the deaths occurred in Middle Tennessee. The Tennessee Department of Health is urging citizens, especially children and the elderly, to get flu shots. Free flu vaccines are still available at local health departments across the state.
