SOCIAL SECURITY PHONE SCAM REPORTED

A new phone scam involves a recording a person hears after answering stating this is a call from the Department of Social Security Administration. The recording then says the reason for the call is to inform the potential victim that their social security number has been suspended for suspicious activity. The final thing said on the recording is if the one called wants to know more, to press one. If it is pressed, it transfers to a live person who asks for personal information. Law enforcement says this is a scam and do not give any personal data to the caller. The real Social Security Administration does not perform these types of calls.
