STANDOFF WITH AUTHORITIES IN PUTNAM COUNTY ENDS WITH ARREST

A suspects standoff with authorities in Putnam County yesterday ended with his arrest. Officers say 30-year-old Johnny Joe Threet was released from jail earlier in the day on bond for a domestic charge and allegedly arrived at a home on a stolen ATV. Threet was inside the dwelling reportedly armed with a rifle and authorities were called. During the confrontation with officers, White Plains Academy was placed under lockdown and Algood police requested assistance from the sheriffโ€™s department. Threet later threw the firearm out the doorway of the residence and surrendered. He was transported to jail charged with reckless endangerment, aggravated burglary, theft, and possession of a firearm to commit a felony.
