Steva Lane Russell, 83

Steva Lane Russell, age 83, passed away peacefully at her home in Oak Ridge on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

Born on July 7, 1942, in Coalfield, Tennessee, Steva was the youngest of twelve children. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, and four sisters. She is survived by her beloved sister, Betsy McGhee of Oliver Springs, Tennessee, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who meant the world to her.

Steva had a deep love for sports, but nothing compared to the love she had for her family. Though she never had children of her own, she poured her heart into the lives of her many nieces and nephews, treating each as if they were her own. She never missed a birthday, created lasting Christmas memories, and was always present for the most important moments in their lives. She was truly the glue that held the Russell family together.

Before her retirement, Steva worked as an operations manager at PGP/Heraeus Metal Processing in Morgan County, where she was respected for her dedication and strong work ethic.

Steva enjoyed a full and active life, with hobbies that included softball, basketball, boating, and spending time at her lake cabin. As a talented left-handed shortstop for the Satellite softball team, she was known for her signature spinning 360-degree throw to first base—a move that left a lasting impression on teammates and fans alike.

She was blessed with many special friendships, most of which lasted a lifetime. Truly, to know Steva was to love her.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

The family will announce a celebration of life at a later date.
