STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE IN AREA SATURDAY (JAN. 11, 2020)
Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected in the listening area Saturday (January 11, 2020). In the morning, a strong wind develops with rising temperatures towards the upper 60s and lower 70s. Higher humidity and instability helps to set the stage for long lived thunderstorms that may create damage. The main line will approach the Cumberland Plateau during the afternoon and leaves the area around sunset. Main impacts from the strongest storms include heavy rainfall, frequent lightning, straight line winds in excess of 50 to 60 mph, small hail, and even a low threat of an isolated tornado. Rainfall amounts could range between 2-3 inches with locally higher amounts. Tune into 105.7 The Hog Saturday for the latest updates from staff meteorologist Steve Norris.
