Slick roads and hazardous travel will be possible across higher elevations Sunday morning where snow covered and wet roads re-freeze.

A series of storm systems move through next week with the strongest expected from late Wednesday through Thursday night. Periods of heavy rain and strong, gusty winds are expected, especially across the higher elevations of our eastern counties.

Sunday: Partly sunny, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 47.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 28.

Martin Luther King Day: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 51. Wind gusts as high as 20 mph.

Monday Night: Showers, mainly after midnight. Low around 43. Wind gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of rain is 90 percent.

Tuesday: A 50 percent chance of showers, mainly before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. Wind gusts as high as 20 mph.

Tuesday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 41.

Wednesday: Showers likely, mainly after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 58. Chance of rain is 60 percent.

Wednesday Night: Showers. Low around 49. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of rain is 90 percent.

Thursday: Showers likely, mainly before noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 60. Chance of rain is 60 percent.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38.
