Sunshine and warm temperatures continue Thursday across the Cumberland Plateau and Tennessee Valley. Highs will reach around 80 on the plateau and the lower 80s in the valley. Clouds begin increasing Thursday night, with lows in the middle to upper 50s.
Friday brings another mostly sunny and warm day, with highs near 80 on the Cumberland Plateau and 82 in the Tennessee Valley. Clouds return Friday night ahead of a weather system that will bring a much wetter and cooler weekend.
Showers become widespread Saturday afternoon, with an 80 percent chance of rain across both regions. Highs will only reach the upper 60s on the plateau and lower 70s in the valley. Rain continues Saturday night, with thunderstorms possible and rain chances climbing to 90 percent. Winds will also pick up, with gusts around 25 miles per hour possible.
Sunday stays wet, with an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs will reach the lower 70s on the Cumberland Plateau and middle 70s in the Tennessee Valley. Rain begins winding down Sunday night, setting the stage for a much nicer Monday. Sunshine returns for Columbus Day, with highs in the middle to upper 70s.
