SUPREME COURT DENIES BIDEN ADMINISTRATION REQUEST REGARDING NEW TITLE IX RULE
In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court denied a request from the Biden Administration to partially reinstate a new Title IX rule.
The new rule would have covered issues ranging from accommodations for pregnant students, procedures for schools to use in response to sexual misconduct complaints, retaliation protections, and recordkeeping requirements as well as rules regarding gender identity and sexual identity for the first time.
The Biden Administration says the injunctions go too far and is urging the Supreme Court to block the prohibitions on gender identity discrimination and allow the other changes to take effect.
Decisions on the matter haven’t been finalized, and could eventually return to the Supreme Court, but for now, the cases return to lower appeals courts.
