SUSPECT CHARGED WITH EVADING ARREST AND DRUGS AFTER HOT PURSUIT
Authorities have charged a man with evading arrest and drug charges after he led them on a vehicular chase. A Loudon County Deputy stopped a 2017 Dodge Charger driven by Haushann Walter Simpson, who was unable to provide a driver’s license or proof of registration. The officer smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and when he asked Simpson to exit the car, Simpson sped off. After a hot pursuit, Simpson was unable to avoid spike strips which disabled the car’s tires. After proceeding a short distance, Simpson stopped at Town Creek Villas where he proceeded to barricade himself into one of the apartments which was occupied by a female and several juveniles. The Blount County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team was called in and Simpson eventually surrendered. It was discovered that the Charger had been stolen from a car dealership in Georgia and that Simpson had been listed as a gang member.
