TBI CHARGES SUSPECT IN DECATUR COUNTY OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING

Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have arrested and charged a subject accused of fleeing law enforcement officers attempting to arrest him.
At the request of 24th District Attorney General Matt Stowe, agents began investigating an officer-involved shooting in Decatur County, involving Deputy Marshals with the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Preliminary information indicates that Deputy Marshals located 34-year-old Anthony Phoenix, wanted on arrest warrants from Henderson County and the State of Kentucky, on the 100 block of Gilbert Road in Parsons. Phoenix reportedly fled in a vehicle and led officers on a brief pursuit. At some point, officers fired upon the vehicle. No one was struck by the gunfire or injured as a result of the officer-involved shooting.
Phoenix was immediately taken into custody and booked into the Decatur County Jail. He was charged with attempted first-degree murder and felony evading arrest in connection to the December 2, 2019 incident.
