TBI INVESTIGATES DEADLY OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING IN MCMINNVILLE

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation special agents are probing a fatal Thursday evening encounter in McMinnville that left one man dead following a domestic disturbance call.
At approximately 7:00 PM, McMinnville Police Department officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Dogwood Pointe Drive. Responding personnel encountered Scott Carroll Jr., 44, who was reportedly armed and barricaded inside the home.
Following a multi-agency response and subsequent de-escalation attempts, gunfire was exchanged between Carroll and two officers. Carroll sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. No law enforcement officers sustained injuries during the incident.
In accordance with standard protocol, TBI agents are independently gathering evidence, conducting interviews, and mapping the sequence of events. The bureau operates strictly as an objective fact-finding agency, compiling data for 31st Judicial District Attorney General Matthew Colvard to determine whether the officers’ actions were justified.
The McMinnville Police Department will handle inquiries regarding the identities of the involved officers, as the TBI does not release officer names in active investigative matters.
