TBI MOST WANTED SUSPECT RODNEY GARRETT HIT, KILLED AFTER RUNNING ACROSS I-840

TBI Most Wanted suspect Rodney Garrett died after getting hit by oncoming traffic while running across I-840 Thursday morning, authorities announced.

While patrolling I-840, a Williamson County state trooper spotted a man walking on the side of I-840 westbound. The trooper noted that the man had a pistol and matched the description of a BOLO for a man believed to have a weapon.

As the trooper turned around and turned on his blue lights to pull over to the shoulder of the interstate to initiate his investigation, THP says the man ran across the interstate into the median then into oncoming traffic on I-840 eastbound near mile marker 42.  He was pronounced dead at the scene. Smyrna Police Chief Kevin Arnold identified the man as TBI Most Wanted suspect Rodney Garrett. The incident is under investigation.

Garrett faced an attempted criminal homicide charge. Smyrna Police say he shot and injured his wife on Almaville Rd. shortly after midnight on Nov. 1.
