TDOT SET TO IMPROVE ROAD CONDITIONS WITH HISTORIC INCREASE IN FUNDING
The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is set to improve road conditions in East Tennessee with a historic increase in funding. For the first time, the state’s annual budget includes an additional $80 million in recurring general fund dollars dedicated to transportation.
According to TDOT’s Mark Nagi, this funding will support pavement preservation, bridge repairs, spot safety measures, and expansions of the HELP truck program, mowing, and litter pickup. Additionally, TDOT received a one-time allocation of $1 billion, enabling faster project starts.
TDOT has also developed a 10-year plan outlining all statewide projects, ensuring commitment to their completion.
