TEEN GRADUATES HIGH SCHOOL, DIES FROM HEART FAILURE TWO DAYS LATER

A Johnson City teen with an aggressive form of muscular dystrophy fulfilled his dream of graduating from high school, just two days before his death.

Dakota Johnson had been taught at home since the seventh grade, but he told his teacher he wanted to participate in graduation with his classmates.

However, just before the ceremony, the teen was admitted to the hospital with heart failure.

So, the school brought all the pomp and circumstance to him – with a private graduation ceremony from his hospital room.

Johnson wore the cap and gown in his hospital bed and posed for pictures holding the diploma, flanked by family and friends.

The teen died two days later.

Johnson’s grandmother said she believes the graduation ceremony was the happiest day of his life.
