TENN. ATTORNEY GEN. LEADS COALITION TARGETING AI INTERACTIONS WITH CHILDREN

Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti, leading a bipartisan group of 44 state attorneys general, sent a warning to major AI companies including Google, Meta, Microsoft, Open AI, xAI, and others, addressing reports of AI chatbots engaging in sexually inappropriate conversations with children and encouraging harmful behaviors like suicide and murder.

The letter criticizes Meta for allowing its AI to engage in romantic roleplay with children as young as eight and urges AI developers to implement policies preventing the sexualization of kids. The attorneys general emphasize the need for caution to protect young users and warn that companies knowingly harming children will face consequences.
