TENNESSEE BILL TO MAKE BIBLE OFFICIAL STATE BOOK GOES TO HOUSE FLOOR
Tennessee State Representative Jerry Sexton (R-Bean Station) is sponsoring House Bill 2778 which if approved would make the Bible the official state book. It comes four years after similar legislation was vetoed by then Governor Bill Haslam. The bill was met then with legal concerns surrounding the legislation which would likely arise again. Attorney General Herbert Slattery III argued the bill would have violated both state and federal constitutions.
