TENNESSEE BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION PROBES BLOUNT COUNTY OFFICER-VOLVED SHOOTING
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has launched an independent inquiry into an officer-involved shooting that left a woman dead in Blount County on Tuesday evening. According to preliminary reports, Blount County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a distress call just after 8:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of Creason Drive regarding a female threatening self-harm and violence against others.

The Incident: Upon arrival, deputies encountered a woman armed with a knife who reportedly refused repeated commands to drop the weapon.

The Escalation: As the individual advanced toward law enforcement, three deputies discharged their service weapons, striking her.

The Outcome: Emergency medical measures were taken, and the woman was transported to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

At the request of 5th Judicial District Attorney General Ryan Desmond, TBI special agents are leading the ongoing fact-finding process to establish the sequence of events.
