The Tennessee Department of Health has announced that free flu shots will be available to everyone over the age of six months on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, as part of the annual Fight Flu TN campaign. State Health Commissioner Dr. John Dunn emphasized that getting vaccinated is the most effective way to reduce personal health risks and prevent the spread of the virus to others, particularly vulnerable populations such as pregnant women, infants, the elderly, and individuals with chronic medical conditions.

Now in its ninth year, the statewide initiative will offer the vaccine at more than 200 local health departments and partner locations. Residents can visit the Fight Flu website and use the event location map to find their nearest participating site and operating hours. Health officials also reminded the public to practice standard preventive measures, including regular handwashing, covering coughs and sneezes, and staying home when feeling sick.
