TENNESSEE LAWMAKERS ADVANCE BILL TO CAP ROBOCALLS AT 10,000 PER MONTH
Tennessee lawmakers are advancing House Bill 1447, a legislative measure introduced by Representative Charlie Baum to strictly regulate robocall volume within the state.
The proposed law targets commercial entities by capping their automated communications at 10,000 calls per month. To ensure compliance, businesses exceeding 500 robocalls monthly must maintain detailed call logs and submit them to the Tennessee Public Utility Commission every six months.
Violations would be classified as unfair or deceptive business practices under the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act, carrying civil penalties of at least $1,000 per violation.
