“The Book Bus” made its first official appearance in Rhea County yesterday. It will now visit summer school camps, neighborhoods, parks, and community events. The literacy project received funding from the Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation, the Rhea County Board of Education and many private and business donations. The blue color represents the eastern border of the county while the mountains represent the western border. The inside of the bus reflects a family room atmosphere for the young and young at heart to enjoy reading. Officials say free books will be given away at every stop this summer.
