On January 7, 2026, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to a theft on New Highway 68 in Tellico Plains.

The caller reported that a side-by-side vehicle, which was loaded on a 6×8 trailer, had been stolen on December 2, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m. The caller said that both the side-by-side and trailer had been chained to a pole at the location. He advised that the side-by-side was being kept there so it could be sold on behalf of another individual.

Upon noticing the side-by-side was missing, the caller contacted the owner to see if it had been picked up. The owner advised that he had not retrieved the vehicle.
